Steel and Concrete

There's something about the brutal, plain aesthetics of socialist '70s architecture. The functionalist lines and shapes, the bold forms, the intriguing work with raw material. Every time I shoot a roll, I can't help but feel a satisfying sense of accomplishment.

These buildings often seem dull and ugly, perhaps even disrespectful. But that's the way they are, and they stand a testimony of an age that is already disappearing. With imminent reconstructions and demolitions, I set out on a mission to document these modernist pieces.

Shot almost exclusively on medium format black and white film, these pictures document the raw beauty of brutalism and the fleeting nature of time.
